Illinois CPA Society Honors Gregory Dowell With Public Service Award
Chicago – The Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS) recently honored Gregory S. Dowell, CPA, with its 2006 Public Service Award for his lifetime contributions to public service and for presenting a positive image of certified pubic accountants (CPAs).
Dowell has been an extraordinary leader and role model, dedicating much of his time and energy to the community and various organizations, all while serving as the managing partner at the growing Palatine CPA firm, Bass, Solomon & Dowell, LLP.
Dowell is an elected official, serving his third term as a trustee of the Village of Deer Park, Illinois, where he has played a leading role in Village affairs at a critical time when the Village was experiencing significant growth. Dowell has been a key advocate for quality development, acquisition of land for parks, playfields and open space. He oversaw accounting practice modernization at a municipality whose annual budget has tripled in the last few years, and also oversaw one of the most successful retail developments in the Chicago suburbs, the Deer Park Town Center.
Dowell has been a member of the Illinois CPA Society since 1983. In addition, he serves on numerous boards for which he currently serves as director, including: the Vehe Farm Foundation; the Accounting Advisory Board for Illinois Wesleyan University; and the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC)
The Public Service Award was presented to Dowell at the Illinois CPA Society’s Leadership Recognition Dinner held on June 22 at the Hilton Chicago.
